Be the Change Retreats: For Transformational Leaders and Changemakers

Be The Change

Three Day 121 and Small Group Retreats

For Transformational Leaders and Changemakers

Based in the UK

Being at the forefront of transformational change, however we conceive that, requires a considerable amount of physical, emotional, intellectual and at times, spiritual energy. For many leaders and change makers, the pressures of full agendas, travel, long hours, difficult decisions and challenging predicaments, can make the work of transformational change deeply rewarding and, at times, difficult and stressful. We can find ourselves caught up in the world of ‘doing’ such that our minds become overly busy, our bodies tired and the perspective needed to make the right decisions limited. Living in a prolonged state of high energy, adrenaline and inner tension can lead to dysfunctional conscious and unconscious patterns of behaviour, causing problems both for us and for those we are seeking to positively impact. In the long run, this can cause problems for our physical health too.

Position this against the challenges the world is currently facing, and which individuals, business, governments, and NGOs are increasingly required to address; those leading or struggling for transformational change need time to periodically step back from this world of ‘doing’-for ourselves, the organisations with which we work and then, for the wider world that we serve.

One traditional way of stepping back from the wider world is to go on retreat. Putting time aside to go on retreat creates space for us to slow down, stop and reflect on the things that are deeply important to us, enabling us to review what we are learning about the environments in which we are working, understand what this means for us and the work that we do, and how we need to develop and make changes in our own lives so that we can be more effective in the world to which we will return.

The Retreat

This three-day retreat has both an inner and an outer orientation-focusing on the place where ‘who we are’ meets ‘what we do’ in the world. The simple, soul-directed processes we engage in, enable participants to become more present with themselves and with the questions they are holding.

In the quiet of a digital free retreat space, held in wild, nature rich surroundings you will learn to listen more carefully to your own inner guidance and see more clearly the transformation that comes from the sea of potential that you are surrounded by. With this, you will be able to move possibility into deeply aligned actuality.

This retreat is suitable for:

  • CEOs and Senior Executives
  • Entrepreneurs
  • Company founders
  • NGO Leaders
  • Social activists.

A three-day retreat may be suitable for you if you are

  • At a point of significant personal and/or organisational transformation- a bridge-point between old and new, a time of ending and beginning.
  • Self-motivated to change and grow
  • Holding decisive personal questions regarding meaning, purpose, and vocation.

In every case, you will recognise the need to take a significant period of time away from day-to-day activities, to engage with your life situation deeply at a personal level, and you will be called to creatively explore ways in which you can purpose your life and/or business to be a force for greater good, in a rapidly changing world.

The retreat process is always bespoke, tailored to your individual needs, based on your presenting concerns and questions. Typically, we will

  • Spend extended time outside, in the natural world
  • Learn to listen to nature as a guide
  • Conduct a time limited ‘solo walk’
  • Work with myths, stories, and poetry
  • Explore the gift of interior silence
  • Use a range of processes drawn from depth psychology and shadow work, to understand hidden drivers and reactive tendencies
  • Explore the relationship between soul, purpose and meaning
  • Learn about living a soul-informed life
  • Create a powerful vision for the future

The word companion means, ‘to break bread together.’ This describes very well the relationship we enter into on retreat. Companionship has ancient roots. It suggests trustworthy and respectful relationship. As your companion on this journey, I will be your guide in the process, and your cook. I will take care of the spaces in which we work together, ensuring the work is safely held, that it is honest and courageous and that it honours the sacred nature of the undertaking we are engaged in.

Booking a Retreat

This retreat is a deep psycho-spiritual process carefully designed to bring a greater sense of clarity, purpose and meaning to your life, that will support you to live well, in a soul informed way. Timing is important to the success of this process, and I will only proceed with a retreat if I deeply believe you are ready and that it will help you with the questions you are holding.

I offer a maximum of 6 121 Be the Change retreats a year

If you are interested, and would like further information about a ‘Be The Change’ retreat, please get in touch via the email link.

Once I have heard from you, I will send you a simple application form to complete. This will help you clarify what it is that is calling you to retreat at this time. It will also help me better understand if this experience will be a good fit for you and if there are contra-indications that need to be taken into consideration. Following this, if all is well, we will connect virtually, to further discern if this path is right for you, and if I am the right person to support you at this time.

Once we agree to continue, the process will begin formally. There will be a period of preparation by mutual agreement. This will serve to deepen our connection, our understanding of your situation, and our shared sense of commitment to the work at hand.

The retreat will take place at the end of the preparation phase and will be tailored to meet your needs as I understand them. You will be well prepared for all aspects of the retreat.

Following the retreat, we will continue to work together on a monthly basis for a period of 3-12 months depending on need.

Small Group Retreats

Following the same protocol as the 121 retreats, small group retreats offer an opportunity for up to 8 individuals to work together over three days in an atmosphere of trust, mutual support and shared learning. Using poems and stories alongside time spent in the wild, you will participate in a gentle, powerful, process of self-directed, discovery. This retreat is for those who are called to explore within community, what it means to live a soul-informed life, using practices conducive to the enrichment of soul and spirit.
